Visual Communication : Brick Lane

Visual Communication is a mandatory module on the MA design suite. The module is concerned with the development of networks and future collaborations and the visual communication of ideas and projects. This is a one semester module but it is hoped that the thinking and learning developed during this modules will potentially inform Exploring Practice in semester 2 and the Major Project in semester 3

The Brief

What does community mean to you? How does your understanding of the concept of community inform your design practice?

Your task is to investigate and record activity in the Brick Lane area.

Include the social, economic, recreational and political landscape.

Use the rich cultural and historical heritage of Brick Lane and the surrounding area to inspire and inform your own Project Brief. Generate design ideas that are inspired by your findings from your initial research. There are no definitive answers, only observations, connections, interpretations and discoveries that lead you to a problem that you want to solve or a story that you want to tell. Explore, research, read, create and enjoy!
