Graham Fisher is Director of Toynbee Hall, a community organisation founded in 1873 as the first university settlement house. Toynbee Hall now offers advice and support to the local community, with over 500 volunteers and 100 funders, a research centre, and campaigner for social reform. The Barnett Research Centre, housed at Toynbee Hall, holds 4000 books and documents relating to the Settlement Movement and the history of social policy and social change nationally, internationally and in the East End.
