Professors John Grieve and Allyson MacVean, together with Dr Clive Harfield, have just completed a first-year student textbook entitled Policing. Commissioned by Sage for their Course Companion series, the book was published in hardback and paperback in May 2007.

Following the success of their book Covert Investigation (Oxford University Press, 2005), Dr Clive Harfield and his wife, Chief Superintendent Karen Harfield, have accepted an invitation by Oxford University Press to co-write a second book. This will be entitled Intelligence: Investigation, Community, Partnership.

John Grieve and Clive Harfield have also contributed a number of entries to the Dictionary of Policing, edited by Peter Neyroud and Tim Newburn.

In addition to his role at London Met, Clive Harfield is a Visiting Lecturer at the Norwegian Police University College, Oslo, where he teaches third year students courses on intelligence and international/transnational policing.
