Research Degrees

Our research students decide to study for a research degree for a wide range of reasons, and at different points in their lives. Our research student community in DASS includes recent graduates, experienced academics, professionals, and those returning to education after many years.


We are able to offer MPhil and PhD courses in a wide range of social science related subject areas including the areas of anthropology, child and woman abuse studies, community development, criminology, evaluation research, mass communications, media theory and practice, information and knowledge management, public health, regeneration, housing and planning, sociology and social policy, social work, and trades union studies.
